While I may not be the biggest lover of Winter, I have come to realise that there are benefits to this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere. From Christmas and mulled wine to ski-seasons and grey, rainy days, Winter in London is an ever-changing experience. While it can be gloomy and cold, it can also bring beautiful sunshine with a crisp chill in the air. Below is a gallery of London in Winter through my camera lens, as I experienced my first full London Winter season.

There’s nothing quite like a Christmas market, as people enjoy the festive cheer and look forward to the end of another year.

With the sun setting early during the Winter, the colours of the city seem to become muted, echoing the colder days and shorter daylight hours.

Love it or hate it, there is something so magical about snow. Being a Melbournian, we very rarely get the chance to see snow fall and this day was such a novelty… until it started to melt!

During Winter, it becomes even more important to utilise the sunny days. There is something so satisfying about a crisp Winter’s day where the sun is shining and the air has a small bit of warmth to it.

It was on one of these sunny days that I was lucky enough to find some time to explore the city. London is filled with fascinating places to discover off the beaten track.

Winter is no excuse – grab whichever mode of transport you prefer and go exploring!
